Sustainability at Laibach & York is shaped by how we design, make, and produce — not as a fixed goal, but as an ongoing practice.
We work deliberately and at a considered scale. Our approach prioritises longevity, responsible material choices, and thoughtful production over volume or speed.
Materials
Our jewellery is made using premium cellulose acetate and sterling silver components. Cellulose acetate is a plant-based material derived from natural sources such as cotton and wood fibres, chosen for its durability, depth of colour, and longevity.
Natural variation in colour and pattern is inherent to the material and forms part of each piece’s character.
Making
All Laibach & York pieces are handcrafted in Slovenia in small batches. Producing locally allows closer oversight of how each piece is made and helps limit unnecessary transport and excess stock.
Small-batch production supports careful workmanship and helps reduce waste, allowing us to respond thoughtfully rather than at scale.
Longevity & Care
Our pieces are designed to be worn often and cared for over time. Proper care extends the life of each piece and reduces the need for replacement, which we consider an important part of responsible consumption.
